Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Battle Candy Studios LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”), the makers of Plotmast. By using Plotmast (its editor and apps, its website at plotmast.com, or its servers for working together and keeping stories) you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Plotmast.

Plotmast

Plotmast is a narrative sketchpad and story engine for games. Some parts of it are still in development or offered as a preview, including working on stories together. They may change, be unavailable at times, or stop.

Your account

Working on stories together needs you to sign in with a Google or Microsoft account. Keep your account secure, and tell us at privacy@plotmast.com if you think someone else has used it. You're responsible for what happens when you're signed in.

Your stories

Your stories, and everything you write and make in Plotmast, are yours. We don't claim any ownership of them.

When you put a story in a room to work on it together, you give us permission to store it and pass it to the people in that room, only so far as we need to run the room. Anyone with a room's link can open and change the story in it, so share links carefully. You're responsible for the people you share them with.

Keep your own copies of your work: save your stories to your own computer. We aren't responsible for stories that are lost.

Using Plotmast fairly

Please don't use Plotmast to:

• break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights (including copyright),
• store or share content that's abusive, hateful or harmful,
• try to get into rooms or accounts that aren't yours, or to disrupt, overload or attack our servers.

We may remove content or stop access to rooms that break these terms.

Buying Plotmast

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy, Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase alongside these terms. What each version includes and costs is on our pricing page.

Professional

A Professional licence is a one-time purchase for one person, to use on their own computers. It keeps working for good with every version of Plotmast made up to the end of the updates it includes: a year from when you buy it, or longer if you buy more. Versions made after that need more updates (a year for £20, renewing each year if you choose), Cloud or Team. If you stop, the version you have keeps working.

Subscriptions: Cloud and Team

• Cloud and Team are subscriptions, paid monthly or yearly. They renew by themselves until you cancel, which you can do at any time; you keep them until the end of the time you've paid for.
• While a subscription runs, you get every new version of Plotmast made. When it ends, the versions you already have keep working.
• Cloud needs a Professional licence. It keeps the stories you choose on our servers, within your storage allowance, so you can open them on your other devices.
• Team is paid per person (a “seat”), with at least two. Whoever buys it decides who has the seats and can move them between people. Each seat includes what Professional and Cloud do for that person, and working on stories together.
• A Team seat becomes a Professional licence of its own, for the person with it, once it has paid the price of one (£40): straight away when paid yearly, or after four monthly payments. If a subscription ends before then, those people go back to the free version of Plotmast. Their stories still open and can be changed.
• If we change a subscription's price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

Refunds

You can have a refund within 14 days of any payment. Our refund policy says how. A refunded licence or subscription stops working.

Licences

Licences are for the people they're bought for. Please don't share, sell or publish licence files, or try to get around how Plotmast checks them. We may stop a licence that's been shared or obtained by fraud. The games and stories you make with Plotmast are yours to sell and share, including what you export from it.

No guarantees

Plotmast is provided “as is”. We work to keep it reliable and secure, but we can't promise it will always be available, free of errors, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Our liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of Plotmast. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, these terms don't affect your legal rights.

Stopping

You can stop using Plotmast at any time. We may suspend or end your access to rooms and our servers if you break these terms, or if we stop offering them, in which case we'll try to give you notice so you can save your work.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change matters, we'll tell you in Plotmast before it applies. Carrying on using Plotmast after that means you accept the new terms.

Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our privacy policy.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
